#FrackOff If You Please!

Published August 2017 by Leanne Millar BSc

Over recent weeks I have had several emails from the Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. Being completely against fracking myself I responded to the first one with "We will not be participating in any events run or held by The Lancashire Chamber of Commerce until they cease to support Cuadrilla and the fracking site in Preston". I never received a reply to this email.

On the evening of the 2nd of August 2017, I received another email from The Lancashire Chamber of Commerce despite unsubscribing. This email asked me to back a campaign and write to the chief of police to use all power to shut down the protests at the Preston New Road site.

Firstly, I would like to point out that the very right to protest, vote and be heard is what separates us into a democracy rather than a dictatorship. Whilst I do not always agree with the reasons why some people strike, protest or voice their opinions I strongly agree with their right to do so.

In this instance, I am in strong support of the campaigners who are camping out in all weathers to voice the opinions of the thousands of people in Preston who were against this fracking site being built in the first place. In my humble opinion, fracking is a quick and dangerous fix to a problem which there are better options to address.

In summary. To all campaigners, protestors, and outspoken local residents who are against fracking. The Kick-Ass Donkey Group Limited stands behind you!
